Introduction:
Internet fraud refers to any type of fraud scheme that uses one or more online services – such as chat rooms, e-mail, message boards, or Web sites – to present fraudulent solicitations to prospective victims, to conduct fraudulent transactions, or to transmit the proceeds of fraud to financial institutions or to others connected with the scheme.
The main intention of this web crime is to steal our credit card information. The credit card information can be obtained in many ways,
- Using a key logger ( A Program that stores your keystrokes)
- By creating phishing sites ( A site that resembles your bank website)
- And finally virus.
80% of web crime takes place due to ignorance of the victims. So Be careful and protect your money.

Credit card Payment:
Despite the claims of the credit card industry and various merchants, using credit cards for online purchases can be insecure and carry a certain risk. Even so called “secure transactions” are not fully secure, since the information needs to be decrypted to plain text in order to process it. This is one of the points where credit card information is typically stolen.
So how to prevent online fraud ?
In order to protect users from these types of crimes banks had started to offer virtual credit cards (VCC).You can now shop online through a virtual credit card, without revealing your Credit Card number.
Since the merchant has no info about your actual card number , you are safe from these type of crimes. Also these cards live (valid) for short time only. (24-48 hrs or depending upon your bank)
These cards are prepaid cards, SO make sure you have required amount before check out.
