According to Wikipedia, spam may be defined as ,
E-mail spam, also known as “bulk e-mail” or “junk e-mail,” is a subset of spam that involves nearly identical messages sent to numerous recipients by e-mail. A common synonym for spam is unsolicited bulk e-mail (UBE). Definitions of spam usually include the aspects that email is unsolicited and sent in bulk.
How to prevent it?
- Don’t give out your real email address, particularly a business email address. If you want to take part in internet activities that require an email address. Set up a temporary email address using our free service.
- Never use catch all email accounts. A catch all email accounts sends anyt...@yourdomain.com to you.
- Make sure that you dont publish personal email addresses on your website.
- Don’t use single names i.e. alex@ for your email address.
- Never reply to spam, if they have guessed your email, it confirms it works and opens the door to more spam email.
- Don’t use sales@ support@ or any other guessable addresses.
- Don’t send bulk emails using TO or CC.
- Use a good antispam software.
- Use a dedicated domain name if spam becomes unmanageable.
- Encrypt your email address when displaying in your website.
